The Flowering of Forgiveness
May 1, 2011
Dear Members and Friends,
Recently my taxi driver was telling me about his mother who insists that there is some illness in her system. He has taken her to every specialist she suggests, but none of them can find any sickness at all. But still she insists that there is something wrong with her body. Mother is 75 and in good health except for her vague aches which come and go. In my 69 years of ministry I have encountered this situation many times. This leads me to question the revenge of the unforgiven.
To be incapable of forgiveness stops spiritual growth and invites the revenge of the unforgiven, which never sleeps. The unexplained migraine headaches. Such a condition diminishes the quality of life and makes joy impossible.
To keep the pathways of communication open, to have a generous and compassionate attitude can save us from the soul-sickness which never sleeps. How many marriages and friendships are ruined because of the burden of carrying the unforgiven. Life is too short to waste even one minute on revenge. When we forgive we are blessed by higher grace, and we can move into the joy of abundant life.
May our spirits green with the glowing freshness of May so full of color, shapes, now growing, and surprises everywhere as well as in our own gardens. We lift grateful hearts for the glory which surrounds us! I shall be back from Germany May 8th deo volente.
Love,
