Present: Janice Zerfas, Chris Sirotiak, Lisa Dalgleish, Dorothy Long, Dave Sarra, Amy Eklund
The minutes were read, moved by Chris to accept and Dorothy seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Old business:
Contract: Janice will complete the contract for ministry addenda and signatures by the end of October. Janice will check with Jim regarding his nominees for the Committee on Ministry and she will check with the others after finding out who Jim’s nominees are.
Last month we approved the $50 for Gretchen’s class that was not in the budget. We also sent flowers for Jim’s parent’s funeral and we did not really have a place in the budget for that. Dorothy will make an announcement for contributions for the flowers and if we receive more than the amount we need reimbursement for, then it will be contributed to a memorial.
Auction: We need more items for the auction. There is nothing yet from the community at large. If we plan to have one next year, then it would be good to start a committee early in the year (January) to set a timeline and get things working early in the year. It would be good to have a script for soliciting community provided items.
Dorothy provided the Treasurer’s reports: Profit and Loss Budget vs Actual, Profit and Loss for September, and a Balance Sheet. Line item for building improvement: $1044, permit for the sewer, paint, remodeling expenses. The money will be pulled out of the special gifts fund when the project is completed. Charles will have one more exploration of the system to make sure that it is doing what it is supposed to do before we commit to the mound system. Dorothy suggests we need to think about paying someone next year to do lawn care, edging etc. Lisa has an edger that she is willing to donate.
Dave raised the question of the Season of Remembrance which would be for January but we need to be able to host an event without the septic system being overloaded. At this point, we are uncertain if we will have the new system in place. The board suggested that we tell her to fill the date if someone else wants it but we cannot give an answer until next month. Amy will go back to Bob and ask if he could possibly offer us a date in later April, May, or June. If he is unable to provide us with a date later in the year then we will be unable to provide him with a definite yes or no on the date until November. We will try two nights.
Other fundraisers: We could have people bring in their returnables for a donation. Save box tops, soup labels, etc. Some people who are less busy during the Christmas season might be able to sell services in preparing for Christmas.
Membership: We have had one visitor per month per the register. Lisa has heard back from one of them after contacting them who is very interested. Attendance the first and second Sundays was 32 average. She will continue with game night but it has barely anyone in attendance thus far this year.
Dave is finding the lesson preparation to be time consuming but it is coming along. Speaking of faith is getting hard to download onto disks. Amy will attempt this and if it works will burn it to disk and get it to Dave. He does not have all the safe congregation forms in so he is reluctant to go forward with the overnight.
Chris moved to adjourn, Lisa seconded. Motion passed.
